The 1998 Ingham Maraka Festival is a non-profit community festival held over two weeks in October each year.
OCEAN WONDERLAND is the theme for this year's festival. It was chosen to celebrate and draw attention to the United Nation's YEAR OF THE OCEAN. The festival is presented by the service clubs of Ingham. It is our chance to give something back to the community that has supported us throughout the year. The service clubs involved are the Apex Club of Herbert River, Rotary Club of Ingham, Lower Herbert-Halifax Lions Club, Rotary Club of Herbert River, Ingham Junior Chamber and Lions Club of Ingham . The name "Maraka" is an Aboriginal word meaning "pleasant evening" or "happy get together". Our festival could not operate without the continuing support of our sponsors. Where you have a choice, please support our sponsors as they have supported us. Most sponsor's logos on this Web site are linked to the sponsor's own Web sites. Please visit their sites. To find out more information about each event, click on the links in the side bar on the left of your screen.
EDITOR'S REQUEST I am looking to include at least one photo for each event on this Web site. If you have any recent photos of Maraka events that do not have a photo on its Web page, please either send scanned photos by email or contact me by email to arrange for me to pick them up for scanning. I cannot promise to include all photos submitted. The Maraka Logo came about as a result of a competition for school children. I would like to find out the name of the person who designed the logo so he or she can recognised for the contribution. Please contact me if you have any comments or suggestions regarding this site. |
